Sea Moss

Het zeewier sea moss is ter ondersteuning van de slijmvliezen in de darmwand. De officiële naam is Mastocarpus stellatus of Gracilaria verruscosa en wordt tevens fake Irish Moss genoemd omdat het als twee druppels water lijkt op Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus). De wetenschapper Ole Mouritsen schrijft:

“Mostly what people see is the sandy gold-tone variety of gracilaria and that’s what Dr. Sebi held up mentioning how it expands. In his powdered compound, he uses Chondrus Crispus along with Bladderwrack. Gracilaria is the seaweed that Dr. Sebi always showed. However, It’s not the same as Chondrus crispus but it also is full of nutrients. It’s simply not what he used in the bromide plus. There is also what’s called mastocarpus stellatus, which looks similar to the Chondrus crispus also known as the fake Irish moss. It is a beautiful purple seaweed the size of the Chondrus crispus. Carrageenans are extracted from these and other red food grade algae and used commercially. Read here on the process in which makes it rather toxic due to commercial extraction for use in nut milk etc.  Otherwise, mastocarpus is safe to eat along with Chondrus crispus.
